Abstract

Reliability analysis of complex networks becomes increasingly important as our society relies more and more on the availability of systems that steadily become more interconnected. Recently, the concept of survival signature has attracted significant attention in reliability analysis of networks. It allows a computationally efficient analysis based on the separation of structural and probabilistic information. This work introduces a quantitative approach to evaluate the consequences of failures by estimating the reliability of systems with cascading failures. The properties of survival signature allow for an efficient simulation method capable of analyzing system interdependencies and cascading failures.
